an existing medical office located in a prominent san francisco neighborhood was in need of a functional and visual update. brick working within the existing bones of the building provided a design that raises the profile for the surrounding neighborhood and visitors. common area spaces most visited by patients and doctors were targeted, connecting a progression of spaces from the patient's car door to the doctor's office. by focusing valuable construction dollars on the most visited areas, a budget that included accessibility upgrade requirements was balanced to create an impact.

a new entry ramp at the building entrance gave brick an opportunity to extend an outdoor terrace to provide for more sunshine in an area that is traditionally foggy. the terrace materials connect the outdoors to the indoors into a light and bright lobby space, accented with a feature ceiling and lighting. by taking advantage of existing travertine stone and carefully selecting complimentary materials, brick was able to provide a cohesive design that connects the existing to the new and raises the quality of the whole.
