matt combrink, design principal

matt has over 16 years of experience designing and implementing projects for higher education, private development and public institutional clients alike. this broad range of experience allows matt a unique perspective to approach each project as a tested expert with intellectual curiosity. matt’s primary role at brick is to direct the design of each project from early conceptual sketches all the way through finished details. as a staunch advocate for leveraging technology, matt develops each project as a virtual 3d model (bim) ensuring accurate communication of design intent to the client as well as consultants and ultimately the contractor.

matt strives for an architecture rooted in the unique qualities of each project while at the same time resists the stylistic trends of the day. he feels strongly that a successful project must meet the client’s needs and budget, inspire those who use the building and ultimately provide a meaningful contribution to the cultural tableau that can stand the test of time.

matt received his bachelor of architecture from the university of california, berkeley and his master of architecture from yale university.
